Position Overview:

The Healthcare Data Specialist (AKA Data Entry Specialist) role is a detail-oriented and tech-savvy position that supports the GUIDE program by managing the timely and accurate exchange of data files with Medicare. This role is critical to ensuring compliance, continuity of care, and operational integrity in our engagement with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The primary function is to help maximize Bluestone’s clinical and financial performance in the GUIDE program through the creation and distribution of timely and accurate data files, reports and metrics.

Schedule: Full time position, day shift hours, no evenings, weekends or holidays. Hours are 8am to 5pm Monday thru Thursday & 8am to 3pm on Fridays.  

Location: This remote role must be located in one of the Bluestone Markets (Minnesota, Wisconsin or Florida). 

Salary: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour. Salary will be commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

  • Create, validate, and transmit data files to Medicare via approved CMS portals and methods.
  • Monitor inbound files from Medicare, ensuring timely retrieval and processing
  • Ensure all data exchanges comply with CMS formatting, transmission standards, and submission schedules
  • Stay up-to-date with CMS GUIDE program data submission requirements and update internal protocols accordingly
  • Data entry into care management patient registries
  • Prepare GUIDE spreadsheets for the billing/coding department
  • Collaborate with compliance, IT, and program teams to coordinate updates to file formats, schedules, or processing logic
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and contribute to workflow improvements.
  • Provides backup support to team members as needed
  • Works independently and within a team setting

Qualifications:

Education/Certification/Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Health Care Administration, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with eMR and/or Care Coordination software preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience in healthcare data processing, preferably with exposure to Medicare or other CMS programs.
  • Proficiency with data handling tools (e.g., Excel, flat files, SFTP).
  • Strong understanding of file formats (X12, CSV, XML, etc.) and basic data validation techniques.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong customer service, relationship building, and communication skills
  • Strong technical skills and experience with EHRs preferred
  • Demonstrated compatibility with Bluestone’s purpose, focus and values 
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
